Dentistry is the practical application of knowledge of dental science (the science of placement, arrangement, function of teeth and their supporting bones and soft tissues) to human beings by a dentist doctor qualified to treat diseases, malformations of, and injuries to teeth. At Rajasthan Hospitals. Dentistry we continually strive to bring the best in innovation and technology to treat the different dental diseases & to preserve the esthetics. The patron saint of dentists is Saint Apollonia, martyred in Alexandria by having all her teeth violently extracted, not, one would have thought, such a very desirable exemplar. In 2001 archaeologists studying the remains of two men from Mehrgarh, Pakistan, made the discovery that the people of Indus Valley Civilization, even from the early Harappan periods (c. 3300 BC), had knowledge of medicine and dentistry.. The specialties of Dentistry wherein the treatment is provided at the Institute are Endodontics (root canal therapy), Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (study, diagnosis, and often the treatment of oral and maxillofacial related diseases), Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (study and radiologic interpretation of oral and maxillofacial diseases), Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (extractions and facial surgery), Orthodontics (straightening of teeth), Pedodontics (pediatric dentistry; i.e. dentistry for children), Periodontics (treatment of gum disease), Prosthodontics (replacement of missing facial anatomy by prostheses such as dentures, bridges and implants). Other dental disorders include - Over-opening the jaws beyond their range for the individual or unusually aggressive or repetitive sliding of the jaws sideways (laterally) or forward (protrusive) due to Speech habits resulting in jaw thrusting, Excessive gum chewing or nail biting, Excessive jaw movements associated with exercise, Size of foods eaten and the delivery of dental care to older adults involving the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of problems associated with normal aging and age-related diseases. In case of accident and other trauma cases, the Institute also provides the treatment of Dental Surgery. Dental surgery involves procedures which involve artificially modifying the dentition. Some of the more common are – Endodontic (Surgery involving the pulp or root of the tooth), Root canal, Pulpotomy - The opening of the pulp chamber of the tooth to allow an infection to drain, Usually a precursor to a root canal, Pulpectomy - The removal of the pulp from the pulp chamber to temporarily relieve pain; Usually a precursor to a root canal, Apiectomy - A root-end resection as occasionally a root canal alone will not be enough to relieve pain and the end of the tooth, called the apex, will be removed by entering through the gingiva and surgically extracting the diseased material, and others. The first step in achieving dental health is to make an appointment for an examination. Our Doctors and staff will take this opportunity to thoroughly review your medical and dental history, examine your teeth, gums & bite. A cancer screening exam is also performed. After gathering this information they can discuss options for treatment of your dental needs. The treatment is provided by highly qualified and dedicated professionals. |
