Gastroenterology or gastrology is the medical specialty concerned with the field of including esophagus & stomach, lever, pancreas, billary tree, small intestines and Colon, These are traditionally separated by anatomic or functional category. The symptoms of gastroenterological diseases include-Constipation diarrhea, vomiting nausea abdominal pain and others. The diseases and treatment under Gastroenterology is separated by anatomy or functional classification. The diseases of esophagus & stomach include – Halitosis, Nausea, Vomiting, GERD, Achalasia, Esophageal cancer, Esophageal varices, Peptic Ulcer, Abdominal pain, stomach cancer, Functional dyspesia; the diseases of liver, pancreas, gall bladder & billary tree include – Hepatitis, Cirrhosis, NASH, PBC, Budd Chiari syndrome, Hepatocullur carcinoma, Acute pancreatitis, Chrnoic Pancreatitis, Pancreatic Cancer, Gallstones, Cholecystitis; the diseases of small intestines include – Peptic Ulcer, Interssusception, Malabsorbtion, Lymphoma and the diseases of Colon include – Diarrhea, Appendicitic, Diverticulitis, Diverticulosis, IBD (Crohn’s disease & ulcerative test), Irritable bowel’s syndrome, constipation, Colorectal cancer, Hirschsprung’s disease, Pseudomembranous colitis. The Institute was among the firsts hospitals in the region to establish a separate Gastroenterology lab in the year 1993.. At present treatment of all kind of Gastroenterology diseases is being provided at the hospital. The lab has a state of art video Endoscope including the arms of Gastroscope, Colonoscope and Duodenoscope. All kinds of Gastroenterology surgeries are also done at the hospital. The department also includes facilities of Vascular radiology including pancreatic stenting. Embolisation procedure and others. For treatment and diagnosis the discipline is ably supported, in addition to the gastroenterology lab, by Pathology including Hematology, Serology, Cytology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and others, Digital radiology including x-ray, Image Intensifier Close Circuit Television (I.I.T.V.), Spiral C.T.Scan & Vascular Angiography System, Color Doppler, Neurology investigations and other investigation departments.. The Institute also has a separate emergency department and a Critical Care Unit to meet all kinds of emergencies and for providing intensive care to patients in need of such treatment. All treatment is provided by highly educated and experienced professionals.
