Chronic pain or pain due to terminal cancer is like hunger, you can have it but it tends to result in Psychological changes. The therapy which is helpful in relieving acute pain is frequently of little value in patients suffering from chronic and cancer pain.

Pain Clinic is working at Rajasthan Hospitals for relief of acute, chronic and cancer pain. Oral morphine tablets are also made available to the terminal cancer patients to relieve their pain.

Sympathectomy by injection appears to be as effective as surgery in a wide variety of conditions, like peripheral vascular ischaemia, gangrene, causalgia and reflex symphetic dystrophies, upper abdominal cancer, pancreatitis etc. Stellate block is indicated for unilateral facial pain, tinnitus and sudden unexplained unilateral deafness. 

Pitutary injection of 0.75 to 1 ml of alcohol is established in the treatment of cancer pain. It is recommended for widespread cancer pain which is inadequately controlled by convetional methods. 

TENS is well recognised for its effectiveness in pain-relief. It is used in acute pain such as tension headache, muscle spasm, low backache, cervical syndromes and minor soft-tissue and ligamentous injury.
