Plastic surgery is a general term for operative manual and instrumental treatment which is performed for functional or aesthetic reasons. The word "plastic" derives from the Greek plastikos meaning to mould or to shape; its use here is not connected with modern plastics. The principal two areas of plastic surgery include - Reconstructive surgery, including microsurgery, focuses on undoing or masking the destructive effects of trauma, surgery or disease. Reconstructive surgery may include closing defects with flaps—that is, by moving tissue from other parts of the body and Cosmetic (or aesthetic) surgery is most often performed in order to change features the patient finds unflattering. In many cases, however, there are medical reasons (for example, breast reduction when orthopedic problems are present). The aesthetic procedures being done presently done at the hospitals are mostly in case of burns procedures and in orthopedic and other trauma or more so in poly-trauma cases and include - Abdominoplasty or reshaping and firming of the abdomen, Blepharoplasty or reshaping of the eyelids, Augmentation Mammaplasty, Chemical peel- Removal of acne scars and sagging skin, Mastopexy, Rhinoplasty or reshaping of the nose, Otoplasty or reshaping of the ear Rhytidectomy or removal of wrinkles and signs of aging from the face, Suction-Assisted Lipectomy or liposuction: Circumcision, Chin augmentation, Cheek augmentation, Collagen injections, Mesotherapy;or an alternative to liposuction where fluids are injected to break down and dissolve the fat. This is considered the non-invasive method to fat tissue removal. The scope of reconstructive surgery is extensive and concerns the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the mouth, teeth, face and neck: The treatment provided by the hospitals in this discipline include - Oral and dentoalveolar surgery (impacted and buried teeth, cysts …), Praeprosthetic surgery (bone augmentation …), Dental implants (to replace missing teeth or stabilise dentures; rehabilitation of patients having undergone surgery for tumors; to retain facial prostheses), Orthognathic surgery (dentofacial deformities), Temporomandibular joint disorders, Trauma (facial fractures and injuries), Tumors (odontogenic and not odontogenic), Reconstructive surgery, Cleft lip and palate, Congenital and craniofacial deformities, Aesthetic facial surgery and others. A Burn is a type of injury to the skincaused by heat, electricity, chemicals, or radiation. Immediate first aidfor burns consists of immersing the injured area in cool clean water to cool the injured tissues. Scalding is a specific type of burning that is caused by non-solid hot material: liquid and/or steam, usually water and vapor, sometimes oil (especially for cooks). A cold burn is a kind of burn which arises when the skin is in contact with a low-temperature body. There are in modern vernacular terminology three degrees of burns - First-degree burns are usually limited to redness and pain at the site, Second-degree burns additionally have blistering of the skin, Third-degree burns additionally have charring of the skin or eschar formation. Burns that injure the tissues underlying the skin, such as the muscles or bones, are characterized as "fourth-degree burns". Serious burns, especially if they cover large areas of the body, can cause death; any hint of burn injury to the lungs, for example through smoke inhalation, is a medical emergency. It is usually third and fourth degree burns that come to hospitals for treatment.
