Neurology

The GRMI ( Rajasthan Hospitals ) having Neurology department since beginning. It offers a wide range of facilities to treatments of all categories neurological disease involving the central, peripheral and autonomous nervous system

Treatment

  • Pain
  • Weakness
  • Tremor
  • Seizures
  • Headaches
  • Memory loss
  • Numbness

The facilities available include

  • EEG: Electroencephalography
  • EMG: Electromyography
  • NCV: Nerve conduction velocity

EEG (Electroencephalogram)

EEG is the name commonly used for electroencephalography. Just like the ECG records the electrical activity of the heart, EEG records the electrical activity of the brain. It is safe and painless. Electrodes (small metal, cup-shaped discs) are pasted to your scalp and record the electrical activity.

EMG (Electromyography)

Electromyography (EMG) is a procedure that assesses the health of muscles and nerves. It may be used diagnose suspected muscle or nerve disorders, There are usually two parts to an EMG procedure: the nerve conduction study and the needle EMG. A nerve conduction study evaluates the nerves that control muscle movement, while a needle EMG assesses nerve activity within the muscles. Abnormal EMG results usually indicate nerve or muscle damage.

Visual Evoked Potentials ( VEP)

Evoked potentials are potentials recorded from scalp in response to a brief auditory, visual or electrical stimulation to nerves to assess visual (VEP - Visual evoked potential). This is a painless test for evaluating the functioning of various pathways.
